What does published research study LL-37 for?

The literature has investigated LL-37 in relation to direct antimicrobial (membrane-disrupting) activity, angiogenesis via the FPRL1 receptor, skin re-epithelialization, innate-immune activation through self-DNA/TLR9 signaling, vitamin D-dependent gene expression, and a paradoxical dual role in cancer biology. These are studied mechanisms, not established human treatment effects.

Is there human clinical evidence for LL-37?

LL-37 has a deeper human-tissue research base than many synthetic research peptides. A randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial evaluated topical LL-37 in hard-to-heal venous leg ulcers and reported it safe and effective at enhancing healing in that trial population.
