Lipo-C.

Lipo-C is a research-grade lipotropic blend formulated with methionine, inositol, choline, and B-complex compounds, supplied as a 30 mL sterile-filtered solution.

The term "lipotropic" dates to early-twentieth-century nutrition research, where choline, methionine and related compounds were observed to influence hepatic lipid accumulation in animal models of dietary deficiency. Each component has since been characterized individually in the literature: methionine as the precursor of S-adenosylmethionine, the principal methyl donor in cellular transmethylation reactions; choline as the substrate for phosphatidylcholine synthesis and hepatic lipoprotein assembly; myo-inositol as the structural backbone of phosphoinositide second-messenger signaling; and cobalamin (vitamin B12) as the cofactor for methionine synthase, the enzyme linking the folate and methionine cycles.

Published research on the component compounds spans hepatic lipid metabolism, one-carbon and methyl-donor pathways, and mitochondrial fatty-acid oxidation, predominantly in cell-culture and animal models and in nutritional-deficiency contexts.

A note on the current evidence: controlled studies of the combined blend itself are limited, and most published data concern the individual components in isolation. The literature does not establish effects of the combined preparation in any human population.
